Morningside's own plumbers, just around the corner
Morningside is our home patch, so we know its homes well: old timber houses, townhouse rows and newer unit blocks, often all on the one street. Each comes with its own quirks. In an older house it might be an earthenware sewer pipe that's been quietly cracking for decades; in a townhouse, it's usually working out whose pipe is whose. Either way, you're in good hands, and we're only around the corner.
You'll get a clear arrival window and a plumber who turns up in it. They'll explain what they've found and give you a fixed price before any work starts, and they'll treat your place like the home it is, leaving it as clean as they found it.

Old timber houses, townhouses and units: we know them all
Morningside's mix of homes shapes the job. In an older house, decades-old sewer and stormwater pipes are where tree roots find a way in, and the street history goes back a long way: Council's heritage records list Rossiter's House, recorded in 1959 as the oldest house in Morningside, and Glenora on Richmond Road from 1902. If you're planning a renovation, a camera inspection first shows you what's under there before anyone quotes on digging.
In a townhouse or unit, the first question is whose pipe it is. A fault inside your own home is generally yours, while shared pipes on common property are usually the body corporate's. Our guide on who is responsible for blocked drains explains the usual split, and if you're not sure, ask us when you call and we'll help you work it out.
Morningside is a mix, and you'll know it better than anyone: old timber houses on one street, townhouse rows and newer unit blocks on the next. At the 2021 Census, close to a third of homes (31.6%) were townhouses and 27.4% were units, well above the Queensland average.
Water supply in Morningside
Morningside is supplied by Urban Utilities. South East Queensland water is classed as hard to moderately hard, which Urban Utilities notes can cause scaling inside hot water systems and kettles.
The property owner is responsible for the pipes on their side of the water meter and sewer connection point, and Urban Utilities for the meter and everything beyond it. In Morningside's townhouse and unit complexes that connection point is often on common property, and Urban Utilities says complexes may have a meter for each unit, either near the unit or in a shared meter cabinet. Find yours before you need it. A leak in the street or footpath goes to Urban Utilities on 13 23 64 (24/7); a meter that keeps ticking over when nothing is running points to a hidden leak on your side, which our leak detection team can find.
Nearly half of Morningside homes (47%) are rented. We can't take bookings from tenants, so if you rent, please contact your property manager or landlord first.
