Camp Hill plumbers for the repairs and the renovations
If you live in one of Camp Hill's grand old highset homes, you'll know the charm comes with a bit of history. Some of it's lovely, like the wide verandahs and the breeze off the ridge. Some of it's less welcome, like discovering the sewer line under your planned extension is the original one, cracked and full of roots. Better to find that out before the builder starts, and that's exactly where we come in.
You'll know when we're coming, and the plumber who arrives will explain what's going on before they lift a tool. You get a fixed price to approve first, no hourly rates, and a home that's left as clean as we found it.

Camp Hill's older houses: what to check before you renovate
Many Camp Hill homes sit on old pipes. Decades-old sewer and stormwater joints are where tree roots get in, and many highset houses have been built in underneath, with bathrooms and laundries joined to older lines. If you're planning a reno, a camera inspection of the sewer line first can save digging up a new driveway later, and if it finds roots or cracks, pipe relining can often fix the line without digging up the garden.
Camp Hill is a suburb of houses (84.4% of homes at the 2021 Census), many of them timber highset homes on the ridges. Council's heritage records say wealthier families built large houses on the high ground from the early 1900s, and the trams that arrived in 1912 and 1925 drove most of the building after that; the Heritage Register is worth a browse if you're curious about your street.
Buying an older house here? Our guide to what a building inspection report can uncover tells you what to look for, and we're happy to quote on anything it flags.
Water supply in Camp Hill
Camp Hill is supplied by Urban Utilities. South East Queensland water is classed as hard to moderately hard, and Urban Utilities notes that hard water can cause scaling inside hot water systems and kettles, so it is worth having your hot water system checked if it has started to rumble or lose output.
Who fixes a leak depends on where it is. Under Urban Utilities' rules, the property owner is responsible for the pipes on their side of the water meter and sewer connection point, and Urban Utilities is responsible for the meter and the pipes beyond it. With most Camp Hill homes being separate houses, that usually means everything from the meter to the house is yours to fix. A leak in the street or footpath should be reported to Urban Utilities on 13 23 64 (24/7).
It pays to know where your meter and isolation valve are before a leak happens. Urban Utilities says the meter is usually in a small plastic box at the front of the property near the footpath, and the isolation valve (stopcock) usually needs only a quarter turn to shut off. Keep the box clear of dirt and plants, and turn the valve off and on now and then so it doesn't seize. Reading the meter while no water is being used, then again an hour or so later, is the simplest way to spot a hidden leak; the Urban Utilities video below shows how to read it. If the meter moves, our leak detection team can find where.
If your water pressure suddenly drops, check Urban Utilities' service interruptions and ask a neighbour first. If they are fine, the problem is likely in your own pipes; our guide to low water pressure covers the usual causes, and we can track it down.
About 28% of Camp Hill homes are rented. We can't take bookings from tenants, so if you rent, please contact your property manager or landlord first.
